FIS sponsorships

Endowed professorships

The funding of FIS professorships structurally strengthens social policy research in Germany. By these means, researchers will be able to establish themselves as professors with a topic from social policy at a German university. At the same time, the professorships enable the respective universities to develop a profile and structure in the field of social policy and social law research.

Junior Research Groups

By funding junior research groups, outstanding early career academics are given the opportunity to work intensively on a social policy topic for a period of several years. The principal investigators of the junior research groups will independently manage their research group at a higher education institution (university or university of applied sciences) or non-university research institution in Germany and will take on qualification-specific teaching tasks of an appropriate scope. These combined activities will hone the skills they need for an appointment as a university professor. Overall, the funding of junior research groups is intended to increase the attractiveness of social policy research and strengthen the research field in the long term.

Research projects

The funding of research projects within the framework of FIS is intended to provide new impulses in social policy research. The focus is on promoting unusual perspectives and approaches for which the established formats of research funding are generally not suitable. Exploration, innovation in terms of content and methodology, dialogue between disciplines and between research and practice are at the forefront.
